* the method for securing authorisation in the Census Programme has changed; the figure for 2004/2005 is likely an overestimate, more like an upper bound.

August 2007 marked the start of a new two-year licence period for Digimap Collections. Subscriptions for the Digimap Ordnance Survey Collection within HE institutions continue to increase and subscription for FE colleges remained stable. There was a further increase in Historic Digimap subscriptions and subscriptions to Geology Digimap rose significantly. Marine Digimap was launched in early 2008 and has an encouraging number of subscriptions. UKBORDERS does not require an institutional subscription and continues to have wide institutional uptake.
Likewise, there were new licence agreements in place for Film & Sound Online and Education Image Gallery. There was a consolidation in institutional uptake for Film & Sound Online (moving pictures and sounds) and a reduction for EIG (still images). EIG requires a paid subscription; Film & Sound is a free service.
The figures for subscription services for the abstract and indexing (A&I) databases in the Reading and Reference Room remained relatively stable with an increase in subscriptions for Land Life Leisure. During 2007/2008 the SUNCAT service concentrated on checking the quality of data from existing contributing libraries.
The Jorum repository service – supporting the submission, sharing, reuse and repurposing of learning and teaching (L&T) materials in UK FE and HE institutions – was launched as a user service in January 2006. The institutional user licence uptake within the first two years exceeded all expectations. Jorum does not require a paid subscription.
Total monthly log-in statistics for all EDINA services are given in Appendix 2.
