BGS Lexicon of Named Rock Units

Further information on the Lexicon of Named Rock Units is available to registered users within the Digimap service.

The Rock Lexicons is a data table designed to hold information about all rock units of member level or higher that are used, or have been used, on BGS maps and in BGS publications. In Geology Digimap it is used to provide details when users click on different rock units on the geological maps. There is also the facility to download the complete lexicon as an excel file.
