Geo-Data Forum, Wed 10th April 2002

This year's Geo-Data Forum is to take place at Manchester University and will be hosted jointly between EDINA and MIMAS.

The first Geo-Data forum was hosted by EDINA last year on the 4th April at the University of Newcastle. The main purposes of the event were:

Presentation slides from last year's Forum are available for review.

The Forum this year is open to all members of the UK FE and HE community. The morning will focus on teaching activities while the afternoon will be concerned with Data providers. A number of service providers will also be exhibiting at the Forum.

Charges

There is no charge for attending the forum although travel and accommodation are not included.

Due to previous non-attendance at free events, we are obliged this year to levy a non-attendance fee of £20. Please enter invoicing details on your booking form. This fee will only be levied if your booking is not cancelled within 5 working days before the event, or if you do not provide a replacement.

Biographies

Dr Ronan Foley has a geographical background with specialist expertise in GIS and its application within health and social care environments. He has taught GIS at the University of Brighton for 9 years and is the university's Digimap site representative. He has managed the Digital Mapping Unit for five years and has been involved for over six years in a diverse range of local projects allied to social and economic analysis using GIS. Ronan has worked and is working on a number of projects, funded by local government, health and environmental bodies. The project's range from detailed studies of health based schemes through to health care planning and community profiling.
