Cross-searching concepts

Cross-searching is different from traditional ways of searching individual databases, in that it requires you to organise your thoughts before searching and evaluating terms.

This means that you have to consider all the possible meanings of your search terms. For example if you searched for the word "tree" in a computing and information science database you would get results relating to decision making trees. On the other hand if you search for tree in a biological database you would get results relating to botanical trees and gardening.
