Ordnance Survey has announced our Digimap for Schools wildlife map competition winner: Mengham Junior School, Hayling Island

Combining geography, wildlife and photography, the competition saw primary school children across Britain taking wildlife photos and plotting them on a map of their school’s area. 254 schools across the UK registered for the competition; 48 entries were received.

Steve Backshall will be visiting Mengham Junior School on 19 July. The wildlife presenter, naturalist and all-around adventurer will spend a morning with the school, taking the winning class on a nature walk and giving a talk to the whole school.

There were also two runners-up, from St John’s Mead Church of England Primary School in Eastbourne and Kitebrook Preparatory School in Gloucestershire, who will receive signed books from Steve Backshall.

A big thank you to everyone who entered. If you didn’t enter and haven’t used Digimap for Schools, visit the site to find out more.
