Study areas for spatial analysis of settlement transition between the Roman and early medieval periods; Fiona Fleming, University of Exeter. We have a new collection of Digimap Case Studies for 2012 showcasing fresh insights into history, geology, palaeontology, landscape architecture, and archaeology. Discover the history of Hispanic peoples in Liverpool, understand how fossil collecting in Somerset unfolded in the 19th century, or learn how Roman occupation in southern Britain subsequently influenced early medieval settlements and Domesday villas (see illustration). Digimap case studies inspire new generations of users and illuminate how our data collections enable exciting new research. We are always keen to add to our showcase, so if you would like to contribute, please get in touch at edina@ed.ac.uk.
