The Repository Junction Broker

Acronym

RJ Broker

Duration

1 April 2012 to 31 March 2013 (12 months)

Summary

This RJ Broker project will develop a standalone middleware tool for handling the deposit of research articles from a provider to multiple repositories. The RJ Broker offers a solution to a many-to-many problem by accepting data objects, parsing their metadata to determine the appropriate target repositories and transferring the data to the registered repositories. It is intended to minimise efforts on behalf of potential depositors, and thereby maximise distribution and exposure of research outputs.

This project will improve the broker functionality developed for the Open Access Repository Junction (OA-RJ) and initiated by the work on OpenDepot.org by EDINA. The RJ Broker will be made available as service through UK RepositoryNet+.

Project Deliverables

A middleware service that:

  1. Accepts deposit of research articles
  2. Parses the metadata and identify target repositories
  3. Handles deposition to registered repositories
