Case study:
Data City: Integration and visualisation of spatial and socio-economic
data in an urban context
Data set 4; age of buildings
The third data set represents the age of
buildings. The data was provided by the Glasgow West Conservation Trust.
To represent the age of the buildings we
used as base the year 1873 and represented it with a 30m high volume.
After that we added or subtracted one meter for each year of difference.
Thus the newer buildings are higher than the older ones.
For example a house built in 1877 is 34m
high while a house built in 1866 is 23m high.

Comments on Data-Set 4
This data set shows that the oldest buildings
(the ones shown lower on the model) are to the east of the study area,
closer to the city centre.
