Providing a Repository for Open-access Subject-Presented Eprints Online
This project runs over five months (March-July 2006) and is carrying out scoping activity for a JISC-funded open access (OA) repository of research papers to support UK researchers and academic institutions without current access to an institutional repository (IR).
Building upon expertise at SHERPA and EDINA, respectively in repository developments and large-scale information service provision, the work is intended to offer a short-term and cost-effective solution to the requirement posed by the JISC Executive; it presupposes a five-year planning and policy horizon with up to three years funding potentially available that would support a Main Phase of Prospero depending on the outcomes of the Preparatory Phase.
